Komal Kaul is an Attorney and Partner at KRIA Law. She has 13 years of practical and extensive knowledge in trademarks, designs and copyrights gained through first hand client experiences from various sectors including but not limited to Data Technology, Financial Technology, Pharmaceuticals, FMCG, Fashion, Retail and much more. She graduated from the School of Law and Legal Studies, Indraprastha University in the year 2009 and completed her P.G Diploma in IPR from NLSIU in the year 2011.
Before joining KRIA Law, Komal was a Partner at a boutique IP law firm where she looked after all the facets of IP portfolios for leading Indian companies and managed such portfolios in South Asia for foreign clients. Komal has experience in advising the clients first hand on overall trademark protection strategies, licenses/assignments, enforcements, oppositions, counselling and advising them on best practices in clearance, monitoring and policing of trademarks. As a part of trademark enforcements, she has advised clients on all aspects including but not limited to strategy building, cease & desist notices, negotiations and undertakings with and from and infringers, customs enforcements, domain name complaints such as those related to UDRP and NIXI and taking court actions. Komal has also appeared before various judicial forums including High Courts, erstwhile Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB) and Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks.
A keen analyst with a flair for writing, Komal has been a member of the International Trademark Association (INTA) where she has served on the Trademark Reporter Committee and the Non-Traditional Trademarks Committee. She has also been a member of the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA) where she has served on the Internet Committee. Her professional activities include a publication on Indian Courts on Trademark Infringement: An Overview, (June. 15, 2015), INTA Bulletin, Vol. 70, No.11 and a presentation titled Legitclass on ‘Best Practices to protect & enforce your trademark’ in the year 2020 powered by Legit Quest.
