R Parthasarathy is an expert on Intellectual Property Laws, Tax Laws and WTO Trade Remedy Laws and commercial litigation. In IP laws he is an expert on Patents, Designs, Trademarks, Copyright, Plant Variety protection and Biological Diversity Act.

On the taxation front he is an expert on Excise, Customs (Valuation and classification in particular), Service Tax and presently GST Law. Additionally, he handles Foreign Trade Policy, commercial litigation and WTO trade remedy laws (including in government-to-government litigations in Geneva).

He is actively involved both in advisory work and in litigation in all the above areas. Before entering private practice, Parthasarathy was with the Government of India and held various positions such as Deputy Secretary & Director Ministry of Commerce (Antidumping), Director Railway Board and Accountant General, Tamilnadu.

He had audited the accounts of UN Headquarters and had been a UNDP consultant. He was a Principal Partner in the law firm Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan till 5th April 2021, for 25 years.

Apart from being an Advocate-on-record before the Supreme Court of India, he is also a qualified Patent Agent, Company Secretary, MBA, Fellow of Costs and Management Accountants of India after his Graduation in Physics. He, thus, brings with him more than 43 years of experience of which about 18 years is at the Higher administrative level in government.
